“ Google Maps led us to a spot across the street from Monona Bakery and Eatery, but we were really happy to look up at the right moment and notice it in its actual location. The woman at the register was friendly and helpful as I wanted a suggestion as Honduran food was new to me. She helped me choose "Plato Tipico" with chicken and fried plantains. Delicious! The restaurant is bustling with activity as people walked in for pastries or ordered a meal from their menu full of great choices. You grab a menu, find a table, figure out what you want, and order at the register. Easy and casual. Nice vibe there. I wish we lived closer so we could keep eating at Monona Bakery! ”
“ Absolutely love the pupusas! There are plenty of bakery items to choose from. I enjoy their specialty coffee drinks too. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a quick bite ”
“ We had a great first experience after hearing many great things! We went for breakfast and started out with scones and coffee. The breakfast scramble and omelet were 10/10. Perfect seasoning and yummy. The pancakes were good but I’d probably choose something else next time. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Would def recommend! ”
“ We went to Monona Bakery for a late afternoon lunch on the weekend. We were just after the lunch/brunch crowds so it was not busy (thankfully.) We started off with an order of chips and medium salsa. Chips were FRESHLY made and still hot!! Yum. The medium salsa wasn’t too spicy. I ordered the Enchiladas Mole (one steak, one chicken, one cheese) and the hunny got chilaquiles with green sauce and a bowl of chili. Enchiladas were delicious! I think for my tastes the chicken worked best for the mole sauce, which was surprisingly nutty. Loved it! My husband loved the chilaquiles. Unique with the green sauce and feta cheese, and he said it hit the spot. The chili was decent. But was fairly average in flavor. Not bad, but didn’t have the flavor pizzazz we were anticipating. I took one star off for atmosphere only because there was someone continually sweeping the floor and moving chairs the whole time we ate (which was a little loud at times and distracting.) But to be expected when you dine at off hours I suppose. Not a deterrent, just an observation. Definitely will return and try another great dish. (Or get the Mole again with all 3 chicken enchiladas!!) ”
“ Excellent Honduran and Mexican food serving brunch all day. The delicious food is cooked to order and fresh. Try the Al pastor tacos-the best I’ve had in Wisconsin. Don’t be afraid if the parking lot is full. The food is worth it. Definitely worth the trip. ”
“ We loved this place so much, we went there for breakfast each day of our trip! The menu has a ton of variety, so there is something for everyone. The options for pastries and desserts was almost overwhelming there were so many. The food does take awhile, but that is because everything is made fresh from scratch. You can tell from the flavor that they use quality spices and ingredients. Everything we tried was delicious. ”
“ My kid calls this a hidden gem and he wasn't wrong. Order at the counter breakfast was delicious. My husband had the breakfast tacos and I had traditional pancakes and eggs. Don't pass on a treat from the bakery counter. The tuxedo cake was AMAZING. ”
“ What a great bakery. We stopped in during a drive through Madison. The service was quick the staff was so friendly. The food was some of the best food I’ve had in a while. The flavors just worked. We ended up taking a ton of stuffed rolls for the rest of our drive. ”
